How To Supercharge Your Individual Blog Posts
Search engines love new content. They love to show fresh stories and articles in their search results and when they notice you always have a consistent supply of it your website ranks better. Every webmaster by now should know that they need to have an active and well written blog attached to their website or they are missing out on some serious ranking opportunities.
However, these days everyone has a blog. They are a dime a dozen. You need to take certain steps to make sure your blog is well anchored and respected by the search engines so that it ranks for any many keywords and phrases as possible. Here is how you do it.
Linking out to relevant articles and websites will not hurt you. In fact, it will do just the opposite. It will make your website look more legit and your blog post more credible. Take a look at some of the top blogs within your niche. Notice how they link out generously to other websites that provide useful information.
Many people just assume that blogging means getting a lot of backlinks and “hording” your link juice for your own site. That is not at all how people originally found websites before search engines came on the picture. You would go to one website and from there you would find links to other websites. It seems like people have forgotten that. Google does give you credit for linking out to other websites within your niche and it makes your website look legit.
Additionally, link out to older blog posts you have written. This is called internal linking. This helps your old content come to life and it gives your previous posts more authority.
Format is important. Cut up your article into sections with with H2 subcategories in them. This not only helps the reader but makes your blog look better.
Placing pictures within your blog post is a great idea. They make your article look more attractive to the eye and give the reader a nice visual to think about as they read what you have written. Just make sure that every picture has a title tag and an alt tag. Search engines do not know what pictures are about unless you label them.
Get Links To Blog Posts and Not Just Home Pages
Get a deep link whenever you can. Do not make every link you build go to the home page. This does not look natural. Point some of your backlinks to your blog posts so that they can get some of their own link juice as well. It looks natural and helps you rank for more keywords in the long run.
Have a bar above your content or right beneath it where people can easily bookmark your content if they like it to their favorite social media platform. This makes things easier on you and makes it so that others do your social media marketing for you. You want as many +1s, likes and tweets as you can get.
Following these steps will help you get the most of your blog posts and help your entire website rank better in not only Google but Bing, Yahoo, AOL and Ask Jeeves.
