I think “guest posting” is the best option besides the methods given you. A quality blog post should be submitted to a high pagerank blog which will really help.

In my experience guest posting can dramatically increase traffic, both from users funneled from the host site, and from the seo value of keyword-rich anchor texts typically allowed in the author’s bio.
